Credit Hills Area

1st Scotch Block

ORGANIZED 1962

Scotch Block is an odd place in that is has no centre. It is a block of lots that were settled at the same time by a group of immigrant Scots. By the 1960's the only public building within this large rural area was Boston Presbyterian Church on the 3rd Line. This Church sponsored the first group in September 1962 under chairman Rev. B.A. Nevin. 1st Scotch Block Wolf Cubs was opened under Cubmaster Bill Schrieber.
Scotch Block joined Hornby and Ashgrove in 1971 in their succession from Georgetown District, registering directly with the province. When 1st Scotch Block returned to North Halton District in September 1983, Vic Auger, Chris Sharpe and Linda Bell ran the pack. By this time the three group committees had merged into one, the chairman being Murray Gregory. The group closed in 1985.
