Scout Brigade of Fort George Needs You!
Greetings CEC Scouters,
If you are receiving this email you are listed as your sections contact. Please see below for a message from the Scout Brigade of Fort George. Over the past few years the CEC has become more involved with the operations of this unique camp. As with all events the volunteer core changes with time. If this camp is to continue there needs to be an influx of new volunteers. It is my hope that there are CEC members willing to help out with seeing the camp continue.
Yours in Scouting,
Central Escarpment Council

To all past, present, and future participants of the Scout Brigade of Fort George:
My name is Larry Chalmers. I am the current camp chief of this nique historically themed scouting event, held annually in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Over the past thirty-five years, countless scouters and youth have come together to make this camp an amazing experience for all involved. However, the number of volunteers has dwindled over the years, making it difficult to keep this annual tradition going. This year especially, many of our long-term volunteers have had to move on to other areas of their lives. As a result, the Scout Brigade of Fort George is now at a crossroads.
To be blunt, we do not have enough volunteers to plan and run the 2018 Scout Brigade of Fort George event, let alone those to come.
Support from our fantastic community of scouters is vital at all levels: the executive, the sub-camps, and in security, commissary, and site services. Without that support we can no longer offer great, safe scouting adventures. As such, if we cannot recruit new volunteers, we will have to shut down the event.
We have until February 15th to hear back from any scouters interested in coming together to save this event, not only for this year but hopefully many more to come. We will be deciding the fate of the event on February 21st. If there is enough interest, we will be holding an informal info session after this date.
Yours in Scouting,
The Scout Brigade of Fort George
