World Jamboree 2019 Presentation

Hello All,

With the World Jamboree being held in West Virginia in 2019 we thought there might be some local interest from youth and Scouters to attend.  With the early registration deadline approaching in December we have asked Rob Byce, a Scouter from Mississauga and some of the youth that attended the last World Jamboree in Japan to come and speak about their experiences fundraising and preparing for the event.  Rob has taken on a role within the Council helping to promote and work with groups that are interested in attending WJ19.

We would like to invite all Scouters and any youth that might have some interest in the event to join us and hear some more information about what is involved and what they can expect at the event to attend our next Area Meeting on September 26 at 7:30 at Hillcrest United Church on Trafalgar Road.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Who can join the Canadian Contingent?

Scouts Canada or l’Association des Scouts du Canada youth members that are 14 to 17 years old when the jamboree begins (born between July 22, 2001 and July 21, 2005) can join the Canadian Contingent as jamboree Participants.

Eligible youth participants may register individually or together with a prospective Unit Leader.

Adult members may apply for Unit Leader positions, which also travel as part of the contingent.

Adults wishing to join the Jamboree under Offer of Service are encouraged to register as part of the International Service Team (IST).

Every country, including Canada, will have a fixed quota of Scouting Youth who can participate at WSJ19. Should there be more applicants than quota spots; a selection process will be implemented involving an evaluation of each youth’s accomplishments and dedication to Scouting.
